Bernie owed Kennedy Motors, a foreign car repair center in the university neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. Not only knowledgeable on VWs and other imported cars, but he would teach and share suggestions to those of us who were still novices in the mechanic's world. Part of his extra effort was securing parts for our needs, with advice to what was a good or foolish idea.
In this image he is instructing another on how to proceed. I had taken images of him directly facing me, but I remember him more for his advice, so I choose this style of character portrait. While he still works some 4 decades later, his sons have joined him in the business, still active today.
Taken with my Leica M2 with 50mm F2.0 Summicron, on Kodak Tri-X panchromatic film, in the early 1970s. I posted an image of one of his employees, Barry, yesterday.
