Description
Inner city businesses often will cover their windows at night with a steel curtain for protection. Every day they open, they must lift them so shoppers can view the items for sale.
After some years the gears take on a patina of rust, grease, and just wear. I found this mechanism in Findley Market, in the "Over the Rhein" district of downtown Cincinnati, Ohio, USA, while I was working on the photos for an historical book about this famous farmers market, now home to many eclectic shops, as well.
