In the details.img413, with story by harrietsfriend In the details.img413, with story by harrietsfriend
While walking an errand in the inner city of downtown Cincinnati, Ohio, USA, but always with a camera, I spotted this interesting character and first started shooting at 30 feet (10 meters), so as to capture something on film, and then I approached closer.  Since he was asleep I couldn't announce my presence but carefully and quietly took the photo from different angles to best capture the story.

If you look at the image you can tell much about him and his life.  Dress was important to him as he took pride in his appearance.  His life had much to adjust to with his prosthetic leg and the burdens of age.  It appears this walk and resting were a regular habit, but so was his comfort in where or what he could find.  It is all there to see for an observant viewer.

Taken with a Nikon F with a 50mm F2.0 Nikkor on Kodak Plus X film, in 1969.

Feel free to download, just give me photo credit and respect for the subject.

I have an artificial leg and it takes a great deal of work to use one. in fact 20% more effort than an natural one.
also when tired it is often relaxing to remove the leg.

as a curious fact, this last week I had a full one side hip replacement and am only now beginning to walk about.  My left leg was working at about 20% efficiency as noted by my bike power and subsequent race times.  I am beginning to understand what you are going through.
