Smoke break.img046, with story

Here, was a man taking a time out for a smoke, in the building's back entrance.

This view, the one a passerby would have, worked best, while the ones I took closer, shooting head on, confronting him, seemed to be too strong and lost the peaceful and relaxing mood he created.  If you think I was sneaking a peek shot, be assured he knew what I was doing and co-operated with good spirits.

Taken in one of the many back alleys, only inner cities seem to have.  The photo was taken with my Hasselblad 500C with 80mm F2.8 Zeiss Planar, on Kodak Tri-X panchromatic film from my collections first printed during the 1970s.  I have subdued the tones to reflect the late afternoon light I had encountered while taking this image.  If you would download the print and bring the light values up, the picture takes on a different edge.
