Snow tree's reach. L1010232, with story

February is our coldest month.  Snow can happen any day, and it often repeats to build up and last for many more days.  It's curious how the snow can evaporate without the temperature going over freezing.  We don't get so much here, but it still becomes the main topic of the day.  When this happens I take off from work, to meander the countryside looking for ways to make the cold worth the effort.  To make the exploring easier, I would take my snow specific mountain bike, with special tires for traction, and can park anywhere without tying up the limited space on the country roads.

As I looked backward into my archives I happened to check February 5, for an image I hadn't used before.  Although it was  6 years ago, it could have happened today.

  One of my snow bikes.  Basically a wide knobby tread tire 26" by 2.25" with platform pedals for boots.  I have another one with studded tires for icy conditions.
