Woman In window.img348, with story by harrietsfriend Woman In window.img348, with story by harrietsfriend
Part of my Sycamore Street Hill series in my gallery of the same name, taken in inner city downtown Cincinnati, Ohio, USA.

There is something extra about this personal portrait with the young woman in her window.  It seems to speak about her life and the situation she is part of.  I was close enough for her to be quite aware of me, yet it seems I mattered little.  If you download and look closely at the shutters you gain more understanding of life in the inner city from the scrawled art.

Taken with a Nikon F, with a 50mm F2.0 Nikkor on Kodak Plus X film, in 1969.  If you like the series, watch my site and you will get to see the rest as I post them.

Feel free to download, just give me photo credit.

the F3 is the least expensive of the pro Nikons and very good.  the best was the all mechanical F2, but the F and F5 were my favorites.  I can find you one if you wish, as I have more than a few hanging around.  eventually you will find your way to Leica M series as they top the list of film.  often it takes 5 cameras or more to make it to Leica.  black and white film can be used 20 years out of date and be perfect.

I know Leica M series are the best:)But they are really too expensive to me.I wanna improve myself first.Film can let me calm down and take focus on photography itself. Finally I bought a F3 on the internet.I don't have time to use it now. When I take some photos I will tell you:DThank you so much.Ur very kind~

Wonderful image! I love your old black and white photos. Not comparing, but these remind me of the Mary Ellen Mark style. Very moving.

I so enjoy her images, as well as W. Eugene Smith and Lewis Hine.  my son, 14, has a speed racer poster I am framing for him.

All great photographers, and deep thinkers. I believe your film work rivals theirs, although I find yours a little more lighthearted in general. In my opinion that makes your images a pleasure to view again and again. That's great that your son will get to enjoy speed racer, they don't make them like they did back when the original cartoon was popular, but I might be a bit biased on that opinion.

For sure! My daughter found me a Mach 5 model / toy a couple years ago, it even came with chim chim and a seat in the trunk for him to sit in! I guess I never will grow up.
